Song of the day :)

Today's song of the day is Cage the Elephant's "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKtsdZs9LJo

I was curious as to why the band members had chosen "Cage the Elephant" to be their band name so I looked it up. It's actually a pretty interesting story.

Why Cage the Elephant: "We were in Knoxville, Tennessee, hanging outside a club after a show-this is probably in 2006," remembers singer Matthew Shultz, "and we saw this guy with a shaved head and a long goatee yelling and screaming and talking to himself. I'm pretty sure he had some mental issues going on. He all of a sudden beelined towards us. Everyone jumped into our car and shut the doors. But I didn't make it into the car. I was stuck outside. I thought for sure the guy was gonna stab me or something, but then he came up to me and gave me a hug. The whole time he was saying, 'You have to cage the elephant, you have to cage the elephant.' Afterwards, I was like, 'We gotta name the band that.''

Hairdressers and the Power They Wield Over YOU

I'm currently reading a book called All Good Children, by Catherine Austen. I just had to share this hilarious quote from page 44. In this scene, the main character Maxwell is getting a haircut at a salon, and the hairdresser won't stop barraging him with questions and she refuses to proceed with the haircut until he answers them. Here is Maxwell's response to this situation: "I should tell Xavier that the field of hairdressing is wide open to him. It's a legal way to trap people in a chair and force them to listen to you for hours."Loving the book!

Halloween Mood

I must really be in a spooky Halloween mood because I can't stop listening to Emilie Autumn's "Dead is the New Alive" (Manipulator Mix by Dope Stars)......

My favorite Snow Patrol song, "What if the Storm Ends." I think that a storm is a beautiful metaphor for love, don't you think?

Suicide - Che

I'm just going to pretend that I'm so awesome that I knew this song before it was used in the trialer for The Places Beyond The Pines. Yah that's a total lie...lol.

I admit, Lana Del rey is one of my many obsessions.....

You're either born with it or you're not!

Lana Del Rey is one of my favorite artists out there. She's not like the rest. She knows what classy means and she doesn't mess around. She gets stuff done. "This is What Makes Us Girls" is definitely my favorite song of hers.

"You have my permission to eat me."

I was always a really strange child. (This is probably a huge understatement). When I was about 10 years old, I told my best friend at the time...."Hey, If we get stuck in the Andes Mountains or something and I die, but you survive, and there's nothing else for you to eat up there, you have my permission to eat me." Of course, she was horrified at this proposition. Apparently this isn't the type of topic you can bring up around people, not even around your best friend. Personally, I thought it was a generous offer. Isn't that what best friends are for? ;)

"Diabolic Music" That I Love

My dad gets really creeped out when I listen to music from a certain CD I have called: Music From and Inspired by Saw IV. I haven't even seen the first Saw movie, let alone Saw IV. I just randomly have the music from it. He calls it 'diabolic music' and says "I don't think that's good for you...", as if music has the ability to affect my health. I think I'll be fine, Dad, really. Just saying.

JaneDear girls breaking up a while ago..

So I'm pissed that the JaneDear girls broke up (as a band/musical entity) because I thought Danelle and Susie complemented each other wonderfully and I loved the music they made together. On the positive side, both beautiful young women are going on with solo careers in music. I have heard Danelle's solo song "Trampoline" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB56riLxmcE, and liked it a lot. I have yet to hear Susie's new songs but definitely plan on it!

Thank you etagenoirrec for bringing me to this amazing song/video!

Baby why don't we just turn that T.V. off....

Wait a minute, why do we capitalize T.V.? Has television become so important to society that it has become worthy of capitalization? It's considered a PROPER noun? AHHH. Not good. Not good at all, people!!
